The most popular blueberry for a reason!

The Duke Blueberry is the most widely planted blueberry around. You’ll love everything about your Duke Blueberry plant. It’s easy to care for. It’s beautiful all year around. Best of all, it produces a huge, tasty and healthy harvest that your whole family will enjoy.

These blueberries are packed full of healthy benefits. Studies have shown that the antioxidants in blueberries can help improve vision, prevent cancer and even protect against heart disease. You’ll have an incredibly nutritious fruit that you can pick from your own garden.

You get blueberries right at the start of the season. Of all the blueberries, the Duke is the earliest ripening. You’ll get a huge harvest of sweet, tangy berries just as summer begins. Right when things heat up and you start craving traditional summer treats, your Duke Blueberry plant will provide you with sweet summer blueberries.

You might get over 20lbs of berries each summer! The Duke is a very high producing plant, which means you’ll get as many berries as you can handle each harvest. Most Duke bushes yield somewhere between 10-20lbs of berries, but depending on the conditions of your garden, you may get even more than that.

The Duke Blueberry is gorgeous through every season. When you’re not drooling over the sweetness of the berries, you’ll love admiring how beautiful the Duke Blueberry plant is. In the spring, delicate white and pink flowers bloom from the leaves. Of course, in summer, the tantalizing blue berries appear. Then, in autumn, the leaves turn a vibrant yellow and orange. You’ll be mesmerized all year long by the Duke Blueberry.

So easy to care for, it pollinates itself! The Duke Blueberry is self-pollinating, giving you one less chore to worry about during the lazy days of summer. If you want even more from your harvest, you can add another blueberry plant for cross-pollination. You’ll get even more berries from both plants.

Worried about the freeze? Don’t. The Duke Blueberry blooms late, so forget about the fear of the freeze. Your delicious and healthy berries protect themselves from the cold. They can handle temperatures as low as -20°F.

They’re so easy to harvest, they fall right into your hands. Just as summer rolls around and you want the sweet taste of blueberries, the gorgeous Duke is ready to pick. You can simply run your hands across the berries and they’ll glide off the branch and right into your hands.

Don’t let this popular blueberry slip out of your hands. Everyone loves the sweet and tangy flavor or the early, easy to care for Duke Blueberry. Order today so you don’t miss out on your chance to enjoy the most popular blueberry around.

Planting & Care

Plant in full sun: The Duke Blueberry needs plenty of sun, so be sure to select a place in your yard that gets 8 hours of full sun a day. Planting in the East or South side of your yard will ensure your berries get plenty of sunshine.

Planting Instructions: You can plant your Duke Blueberry in your garden or in a pot. Either way, you’ll need to make sure your soil is light, well drained and acidic. Sandy loam soil with a high content of organic matter works best. You can add compost and acidic soil to your garden or pot soil for the best results. If you plant in your garden, be sure to leave 5ft. of space between your other plants. Birds love blueberries too, so make sure you use a garden net to get the most out of your harvest.

Watering: Duke Blueberries need to be watered once a week. They typically need 1-2 inches of water each week, so if you’re experiencing a dry season, you might need to water more than once per week. Don’t overwater the bush. The roots are very shallow and can easily drown.

Fertilization: Once you see leaves on your plant, you can add some acidic fertilizer. After that you won’t need to fertilize the Duke Blueberry bush until it begins to produce a harvest. Once your plant is fully mature, you can fertilize it once a year in June and again in the fall if it didn’t harvest well.

Pruning: You won’t need to prune your Duke Blueberry bush until it begins producing blueberries, which usually occurs in the 3rd season. After that, you’ll need to prune away the lowest, non-producing limbs right before the harvest each year.

Pollination: The Duke Blueberry is self-pollinating, but you will greatly increase your harvest with cross-pollination. Plant with other varieties of blueberry bushes for large harvest yields.

When to pick: Your blueberries are ready to pick and eat when they fall right into your hand. Once you see the huge blueberries turn blue, wait a week and then test to see if they’re ready. Simply run your hand across the berries. If they easily fall off without plucking, then they’re perfectly ripe. Blueberries will last 1 week in your fridge, but you’ll need to freeze them if you don’t eat them in a week. Frozen blueberries are delicious in smoothies and the Duke Blueberry holds up well to being thawed out.
